Our Work Together
Everyone is different, so the way we work together will be shaped around you.
Here’s a little insight into the core approaches I may draw from in our sessions.
Person-Centred Therapy
The person-centred approach puts you at the heart of the process.
It’s a gentle, supportive way of working that gives you space to explore your thoughts and feelings freely, without judgment or pressure.
You lead the way, and I walk alongside you, offering empathy, respect, and a safe environment to be yourself. This approach helps you reconnect with your values, build confidence, and move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured, practical approach that focuses on the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
Together, we explore unhelpful thinking patterns and how they may be affecting your mood, confidence, or day-to-day life.
CBT can help you build new coping strategies, challenge self-critical thoughts, and respond to challenges in healthier, more balanced ways.
It’s especially helpful for anxiety, stress, low mood, and confidence issues.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
CFT is all about helping you develop kindness and understanding toward yourself. Many people struggle with self-criticism, shame, or feelings of not being “good enough,” which can make emotional challenges feel even harder.
This approach teaches you practical skills to soothe difficult emotions and build emotional resilience by cultivating self-compassion. It encourages a gentler internal dialogue, helping you feel safer and more supported inside.
CFT can be especially helpful if you find yourself stuck in cycles of harsh self-judgment, anxiety, or depression guiding you toward greater emotional balance and wellbeing.
Solution-Focused Therapy
This forward-looking approach helps you identify and build on your existing strengths.
Rather than focusing on problems or the past, we’ll focus on what’s working and what changes you'd like to see helping you create practical, realistic steps toward your goals.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS is a powerful and compassionate approach that helps you connect with the different “parts” of yourself such as the inner critic, the anxious part, or the part that wants to avoid certain emotions.
These parts all serve a purpose, and IFS helps you understand them without judgement, bringing more calm, balance, and self-awareness to your inner world.
Psychodynamic Therapy
Psychodynamic therapy helps you explore how your past experiences, especially early relationships, may be influencing your present thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.
By becoming more aware of unconscious patterns, you can begin to understand emotional struggles at a deeper level, creating space for new insights, healing, and lasting change.
This approach can be particularly helpful for relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or long-standing emotional challenges.
Integrative Counselling
As an integrative counsellor, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.
Instead, I believe in combining elements from different therapeutic models however always remaining person-centred. In creating a way of working that feels tailored to you some sessions might be more reflective, others more solution-focused. We go at your pace and adapt as your needs evolve.
The goal is to create a flexible, supportive partnership where you feel empowered to explore, grow, and make meaningful changes.
Together, we’ll explore the approach that suits you best.
